THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE TOUGH TO WRITE ABOUT NOTHING!
It’s been awhile since I’ve attempted to put out the B2B – not much of anything going on for Phi Chi and perhaps much of the world. But then a couple of notes dropped into my email that put a positive spin on what’s important in our lives.
I’m not sure of the origin source of the conversation but it might have been conversation between Ron Bailey and Dan Alvarez, roommates at the House in the 60’s. Somewhere in the conversation Dan commented on his joining the Marines “to see the world” and we know what that meant in the era of Vietnam! What struck me was the use of our laughable nicknames in the era – so offensive in today’s counter culture, but endearing at the time.
The letters of WWII to Phi Chi’s of the period are unfortunately lost to the fires of a couple of frat houses. In recognition of and to build a history of service records we initiated the STAR-SPANGLED PHI CHI’S. Br
