Hello Phi Chi’s,
Well it appears that Spring is finally here and the cold months behind us. I wanted to update you with a few developments concerning our fraternity. First off the Actives are keeping themselves busy and productive (now that’s something you don’t see in the same sentence too often regarding Phi Chi’s and the UW-Whitewater). Ken Johnson and I meet with them every other month down at Gus’s Pizza Palace. They are always appreciative and polite. It seems like they really want to know about the history of our group and experiences of yesteryear.
The annual Midwest golf event is scheduled for August 5th in Pewaukee . Brother Essig has again opened up his facility to the Phi Chi gathering. We hope to see all of you there…even if you don’t golf. The Actives will again be on hand and helping out and we are specifically inviting our older brothers from the 50’s to attend. We expect that they may have to be driven in and please let us know if you can help out.
The football homecoming game is in November this year. That’s a little late and likely to be more than a little cold so our plans are to get together for a home game in either September or October. Details will be forthcoming once Ken Johnson can schedule something.
I want to also introduce Kent Collier and Jon Howell as new officers of the Alumni group. Kent is a CPA and willing to help out as Treasurer/Secretary while Jon is stepping in as Vice President. Both were voted in at our January annual meeting in Whitewater. More to come in a future edition of “Brother to Brother” about Kent and Jon.
I want to close by thanking all of you Alumni for stepping forward with the annual dues increase. Nobody likes to pay more and we took this action only because there was no alternative. As has been previously mentioned the Phi Chi’s are required to post an insurance policy in order to maintain their presence on the UW-Whitewater campus. This policy has been shopped and is a necessary cost. Thank you for understanding and your continued support. And as always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me at 608 334 5439.
Hope to see you in August,
Mark McNally, President
